Founded in 1885 at its present location, First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has served the town of Sheridan, Indiana through pastoral care and prophetic witness. Our congregation remains connected to the Campbell/Stone Restoration Movement of the early 1800’s while being joined in unity with other churches through the local Marion-Adams Ministerial Association. Our constituted process is through congregational ownership and lay leadership, supported by ordained clergy.
This page gives greater detail and clarity on our vision, mission, and practice. |

From our current constitution and by-laws: The purpose of the church shall be as revealed in the New Testament: To win people to faith in Jesus Christ and commit us all to activity in the church; To help them and us grow in grace and knowledge of Christ, that increasingly we all may know and do Christ’s will; And to work for the unity of all Christians and with them engage in the common task of building the kingdom of God. |

From our most recent mission statement “2005 Covenant of Mission” While celebrating the abundance of God and proclaiming Christ, we, the members of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Sheridan, are: *providing a safer, more supportive environment and ministry to ourselves and the community *teaching the faith into the 21st century to ourselves and others *meeting people where they are, not where we think they need to be. |
